Emily Kitzmiller North (MPA 2018) was recognized as the American Heart Association's Woman of Impact in Greater Cincinnati and featured in TIME Magazine鈥檚 Women of Impact issue! The image is TIME's collage of Women of Impact from around the country, including Emily (lower left) who is the Marketing & Internal Communications Manager at The Christ Hospital Health Network. The Woman of Impact initiative is part of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement to save more women鈥檚 lives from cardiovascular disease, which is the leading cause of death. Morgan Peterson (MPA 2023) was selected as one of the 40 Under 40 awardees by the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM-USA). According to the IAEM-USA web site, the 40 Under 40 award is "a symbol of excellence and a testament to the remarkable achievements and hard work of the next generation of emergency management professionals who are making significant strides in their careers and positively impacting their communities and emergency management as a whole." Three Outstanding MPA Student Awardees - Kelli Gowan, Sandra Onate Munoz, and Rachel White

Kelli Gowan serves as Executive Director of KY FIRST Robotics, which provides robotics programs for PK-12 youth throughout the state of Kentucky. The vision of KY First Robotics is "to inspire the next generation听 of problem solvers and leaders." She has worked to develop and grow KY FIRST, including听 through her Capstone project which she developed materials to recruit, orient, and train different types of volunteers. On a personal level, Kelli and her husband have parented 14 children through foster care over the past 15 years. The placements lasted anywhere from one week to three years. Three times, they were needed forever; Kelli鈥檚 family includes听three daughters adopted through foster care. 听
Sandra O帽ate Mu帽oz headshot
Sandra O帽ate Mu帽oz works as a Qualified Spanish Medical Interpreter at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. As it sounds, she focuses on听 interpreting accurate medical information for physicians, staff, and听 patients including trauma patients requiring immediate care and moderately sedated patients in the operating room. In short, she serves
as a cultural bridge to facilitate educated, patient-centered care for all stakeholders. Beyond her day job, Sandra is involved in advocacy work for the immigrant community. She started her activism journey in middle school by joining rallies and marches in favor of comprehensive immigration reform for听all which led to joining the movement for better immigration policy.听听

Rachel White has been a police officer for over a decade and with Covington Police Department since 2018. As the Community Liaison Specialist, she is responsible for focusing on quality-of-life issues in addition to her normal patrol activities. At a community event where Rachel was distributing coloring books, a young girl asked if there were any 鈥渞eal鈥 books. It dawned on Rachel that many children do not have access to books outside of their classroom, which inspired the Covington PD Bookworms. The mission of Bookworms is to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community by building meaningful lasting relationships with the youth of Covington. 鈥淏eing a police officer is more than just taking calls and writing reports,鈥 Rachel said. 鈥淚t is about making lasting improvements to the听community and helping those in need however we can.鈥

Twelve MPA students and alumni were inducted into the Pi Alpha Alpha (PAA) Honor Society at the MPA Spring Banquet. Congratulations to Trevor, Michael, Kelli, Jeanett, Miles, Nathan, Juli, Joe, Shayla, Lesley, Jennifer, and Chris! PAA membership identifies and recognizes individuals with "the highest performance levels in educational听programs preparing them for public service careers."

Kyle Dorriere and Sydney (Gebka) Humphrey both were recipients of 91成人导航鈥檚 staff awards! Kyle is an Academic Advisor in 91成人导航鈥檚 College of Arts and Sciences, and he was selected as this year's Outstanding Instructor of UNV 101: Orientation to College & Beyond. Sydney is a First-Year Career Advisor in 91成人导航 Career Services, and she was honored with the 2025 Regents Distinguished Service Award. Both听awards are well-earned and well-deserved! 听
